Functioning at Peak Performance

Based on an article by Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev

Today, you hear about a lot about stress management. But, why would anyone wish to manage stress? One can understand if somebody wants to manage his/her property, family, business or money. Stress management has become a buzzword, because people have started believing that stress is part and parcel of their daily life.

What Causes Stress?

Stress is not caused by one’s work. It occurs when one has no control over one’s systems. Stress is not caused by outer situations. It is the result of one’s inability to manage one’s inner situation. A person becomes stressed when he/she cannot control his/her fundamental faculties.

One travels through life with one’s energies, emotions, mind and body. Leading a life without knowing how to manage these vital vehicles of life, is living an accidental existence. As a result, one only gets somewhere by accident. So, get a grip over your energies, emotions, mind and body. This will help you face any challenging situation in life.

Happiness is the Key

Fine-tune your inner self so that your fundamental faculties function at their peak. When a person is happy, his/her energies start working at their best. When you are happy, you have endless energy. It doesn’t matter even if you don’t eat or sleep. Even a small amount of happiness can liberate you from the constrictions of capability and energy.

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga can activate your inner energies, enabling your emotions, mind and body to function at their peak. When your mind and body are relaxed, you feel bliss. Such a feeling would free you from the stress normal people experience. For instance, if you have a headache, it makes you miserable and affects your capability. Your throbbing head makes you tense. But, by practising yoga, your mind and body will remain at a peak level, keeping you relaxed through the day.
