Lord Krishna is considered as the Supreme God by many Hindus. The Bhagavad Gita is a song sung by Lord Krishna at a crucial time when the Kurukshetra war was about to begin. Arjuna, the main archer in the war, was perplexed by seeing great personalities and blood-relatives in the opposite party. He got so much compassion towards them. Arjuna unable to understand whether to fight or not, surrendered to Lord Krishna.

When Lord Krishna saw the seriousness of Arjuna quest, He became the master and gave this wonderful instruction in form of a song. He explained Arjuna’s primary duty to fight and how it is right to fight. He scientifically explained about the soul. He showed His universal form and showed how He Himself has arranged this battle. At the end of Bhagavad Gita Arjuna was enlightened by the Spiritual Wisdom. He became convinced about the Supremacy of Krishna. Gaining confidence Arjuna began to fight.

  • Srimad Bhagavad Gita is sung in Sanskrit language.It is a part of the epic Mahabharata, occupies chapter 23 to 40 of Mahabharata. It contains 700 verses and 18 chapters.
  • Srimad Bhagavad Gita and Mahabharata are NOT mythological. Mahabharata took place in the history and Lord Krishna came to the earth about 5000 years ago. So Bhagavad Gita is about 5000 years old.
  • Hindus consider Bhagavad Gita as manual for human living. They consider it as their real wealth. Their lives are so much based on Bhagavad Gita that if there is any problem they just go and ponder on Gita to get the solution.
  • The real essence of Bhagavad Gita is surrender to the Supreme Lord Krishna. In the end of the battle Arjuna, to whom the whole Bhagavad Gita was sung, surrendered to Krishna and fought the battle. Arjuna spent rest of his life just to please Krishna. Thus Bhagavad Gita teaches us to be in harmony with the Lord.
